Ross is the Founder & CEO of Bonaventure Equity, LLC (“BVE”) a boutique family office advisory firm based in West Palm Beach, Florida. Ross and his partners founded BVE on the principal philosophy that the transactional needs of affluent families and investors is not only a critical component to growing multi-generational wealth, but require advisors who understand the needs and complexities of the family office community in order to be successful in the private investment marketplace.
Ross brings a variety of expertise ranging from starting and operating high growth companies, to direct investing in Venture Capital, & Private Equity transactions, advising portfolio companies on Mergers & Acquisitions advisory and capital introductions. Through Bonaventure Equity, Ross focuses on advising family offices in their direct investment strategies and processes, sourcing of new opportunities, due diligence, analysis, management and operations.
Ross was most recently a Director of a private Florida based Family Office where he was responsible for evaluating new investment opportunities, performing due diligence, financial and business analysis and ongoing operational support including assuming management positions, strategy, business planning, research, financial modeling, acquisitions and capital formation for a portfolio of companies. He is an affiliate of Spearhead Capital LLC, a registered Broker Dealer and has sat on the board of directors of portfolio companies.
Prior to relocating to Florida, Ross worked on Wall Street with New Vernon Financial, LLC (“NVF”) a boutique New York investment banking firm and was a Manger of the Emerging Business Group at Geller & Company and an Assistant Vice President at JPMorgan Chase.
His experience also encompasses many entrepreneurial ventures ranging from being the first employee of a UK based Digital Media Technology firm responsible for launching their North American business. Following that he founded his own digital technology company, which he and his partners exited in 2006. He began his career at Sony BMG and has international experience working in the UK, Europe, Hong Kong and Canada.
Ross holds an MBA from Fordham University and has obtained a BS in Business Marketing & Management from Ferris State University.
Maggie Kelly brings more than a decade of public sector experience to the Bonaventure Equity team, having held numerous leadership roles within higher education and municipal government. She is a change agent specializing in organizational management, marketing and communications, grant writing, fundraising, strategic planning and public-private partnerships. Maggie was most notably a member of the team that developed and launched Florida Atlantic University’s Tech Runway accelerator program.
As Executive Director for Bonaventure Equity, LLC, Maggie oversees the organization’s strategic planning efforts, marketing and communication strategy, strategic relationships and public-private partnership development. Maggie holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the School of Public Administration at Florida Atlantic University and when not working with the outstanding BVE team, she is busy living the good life with husband Kevin, daughter Molly, and dog Karma.
Joy Rose has a diverse background in the financial services industry including compliance, business development, marketing and client servicing. Joy began her career providing oversight of state and SEC regulatory filings and monitoring firm-wide policies and procedures for a growing RIA in South Florida.
As a new business consultant for an independent broker dealer, Joy worked with financial services entrepreneurs across the country seeking assistance in growing their practices by adding qualified representatives, increasing revenue streams, and enhancing operational efficiency, product marketing and back office support. Joy’s most recent experience includes several years with a prominent multi-family office serving ultra-high net worth individuals and families in the areas of investments, estate planning, next generation education and family governance. Joy was involved with client development and research, strengthening strategic industry partnerships and providing marketing and event oversight to a national team of advisors.
Joy has a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Central Florida.
Laureen brings over thirty years of financial accounting expertise to the Bonaventure Equity team. Her experience includes financial management for large firms and leveraging her many skills to help startups and small businesses establish sound financial platforms and reporting. Before becoming controller for BE, Laureen was the finance manager for a popular food delivery service.
Laureen is a Boca Raton resident and very active member of the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce. She is a mother to a beautiful daughter, and in her spare time, enjoys networking and volunteering within her community.
Raul has over 15 years of senior advisory experience supporting client’s strategic business initiatives in financial systems, technology, operations and system management. He is a leader with unique communication, technology and business acumen which has made him an asset in every engagement and implementation of business solutions for clients around the world. Raul has helped organizations develop strategic enterprise-wide initiatives in business process reengineering, finance transformation, capital funding, change management, governance, risk and compliance. He has lead implementations of business strategies in finance and accounting, GRC, Information Management, marketing and sales, and software development. Raul has also been a part of the Global Big Data Task Force leading the creation of a SAP Big Data Services Portfolio, field enablement and Launch & Adoption materials for marketing and go-to-market efforts.
Throughout his time at SAP and Ernst & Young, Raul participated in over 150 projects with multiple client engagements around the world to lead strategic initiatives and end-to-end implementation of finance solutions, and analyze and discuss all technical and functional requirements of the Organization’s landscape to implement applications for finance, governance risk and compliance, customer relationship management, and analytics.
Mr. John O’Brien is a senior Strategist, Marketing, Sales and Operational expert having successfully advised privately owned business principals in a wide variety of industries. As Vice Chairman to a Florida family office he advises and provides operational oversight of a portfolio of direct investments building value and engineering enterprise growth to achieve attractive stakeholder returns.
John’s corporate career has included a significant record of executive leadership and achievement as a VP and GM with major corporations such as General Electric, Rockwell International, Whirlpool Corporation and as CEO of Walker Bay Boats. He is an Accredited Executive Associate of the Institute for Independent Business and has conducted business on five continents.
Greg Shugar practiced law for eight years in Chicago prior to launching one of the first ever fully-vertical men’s fashion brands, The Tie Bar. Founded in 2004, Shugar and his wife Gina together bootstrapped and built The Tie Bar from the ground up, starting in their basement and eventually operating out of a 20,000 square foot facility and employing a staff of over 50 employees. In April 2013, The Tie Bar was acquired by a private equity group.
Greg now invests in early-stage commerce companies, regularly speaks on topics related to entrepreneurship and teaches an entrepreneurship bootcamp course at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla. He’s also back at it as an entrepreneur himself, starting up a new venture called Thread Experiment -- the world’s first brand of home bedding dedicated to men.
In 2002, Jason founded Archway Technology Partners. In his capacity as CEO of Archway, he holds overall responsibility for all aspects of the firm as broad as strategic growth and as detailed as daily company operations. Jason has overseen the growth of the company from one person to today where the firm employs over 125 highly skilled team members across three separate businesses in three locations.
From 1995 to 1997, Jason worked for Arthur Andersen Business Consulting in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he worked on developing and implementing Enterprise Resource Planning software (ERP) systems. In 2001, Jason founded a hedge fund named The Pioneer Group. During this time Jason developed a software application to manage the partnership accounting and back-office accounting functions for hedge funds. In August 2002, Jason closed The Pioneer Group and founded Archway.
Jason holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University in Mechanical Engineering.
